Multiple Fire Departments fight large fire west of Sioux Center
(Sioux County Sheriff) On Saturday, April 7, at 3:22 p.m., the Sioux County Communications Center received a report of corn stalk bales on fire at 2320 400th Street, seven miles west of Sioux Center, IA.  Approximately 200 bales were lost in the fire. Initially, the Sioux Center Fire Department was paged for the fire.
As the fire progressed, the Sioux Center Fire Department was assisted by the Ireton, Hawarden, Rock Valley, Hull, Maurice, Orange City, Hospers and Hudson, SD Fire Departments.  The Sioux Center Ambulance, Ireton Ambulance, and Sioux Center rehab trailer also responded to the scene.
