Two houses struck in motor vehicle accident - May 18

On Sunday May 18, at 2:05 a.m. the Orange City Fire Department (OCFD) responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 2nd Street and Concord Ave. SE. Upon investigation the vehicle had stuck two homes and became embedded into the second home that was struck. A natural gas line was severed in the process creating a hazardous environment. The driver of the vehicle became trapped into the vehicle requiring the OCFD to extricate the driver. The Jaws of life were use. The driver was transported to the Orange City Area Hospital and later transported by air to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

The OCFD was assisted by the Orange City Ambulance, Orange City Police Department, Sioux County Sheriff, Iowa State Patrol and Orange City Utilities.
